Fracture in or about the upper cervical spine has been experience rarely in civilian lifeMoreover C2 injuries associated with head trauma could be overlooked and managed lately because the brain surgery was preceding. And the neurological deficits were less frequently accompanied.
Recently authors have experienced the C2 fracture; a case of Hangman¢¥s fracture. 2 type odontoid fractures with C2 lamina fracture and C2 body fracture with arch avulsion in one. All cases was from autocycle driving with hyperextension-hyperflexion injury. 2 of them was given the appropriate traction immediately while the rest treated the intracranial: hematoma firstly. The results were good with skeletal traction for 6 weeks or over and brace.
It is suggested that upper cervical spine injuries should be promptly diagnosed by obtaining the routine cervical spine x-ray and inquiring the mode of accident such as cycling.
And it is importment that the spine CT and spine tomagram would be performed in addition to plain radiogram in the cervical spine injury suspected.
